About Youth Hockey with YDYH
Founded in 1972, YDYH operates teams for youth ranging in age from 4-18 years old. Home of the Cape Cod Waves (founded in 1996) Girls Hockey (10U-19U), Cape Cod Blues co-ed Hockey (8U-14U) and Cape Cod Threshers 18U teams as well as our seasonal Grow Hockey programs for skaters aged 4-11.
Tryouts: Tryouts for teams at the 6U/8U through 18/19U age levels takes place each Spring. Registration information is posted on our website and emailed to registered members. We offer co-ed teams for each age level and girls-only teams from 10U-19U. All abilities are welcome to join a team, we do not cut players, anyone who wishes to commit to a team will be placed on a roster. Our program uses a blind tryout and placement policy to place skaters based upon their skill level with like skaters. Tryouts are assessed and placed by Cape Cod Hockey, an independent organization.
Cost: At the 6U/Mini-Mite and 8U/Mite age-level (children aged 5-8 years) tuition is $1,450 for the full 2022/23 season (approx. $210/month) and that covers three on-ice practices a week, one dry-land practice a week (10U and up) and a season of cross-ice or half-ice games either in the Falmouth Cross-Ice league or in the South Shore Conference (placement determined by player experience on team each season). Tuition for upper-levels (10U/Squirt through 14U/Bantam) is $1,650 for the 2022/23 season and incudes the same number of practices/training plus participation in the South Shore Conference Hockey League. We offer a $200 discount to any family that has participated in Grow Hockey toward the first year's tuition.
Equipment: As a perk to our team rostered skaters, we have a donated equipment room full of gently used equipment that we are happy to make available for our families to swap, from skates and pads to jerseys and socks for no charge. Please ask a board member or your head coach and we can facilitate the swap. We ask that you donate your outgrown equipment to help pay it forward. If you have any outgrown hockey equipment or apparel in good useable condition, we always happily accept donations! Please reach out to any of our board members to coordinate if you would like to donate or need equipment for your registered player.
