As a town hockey program, all players are placed on a team, we do not cut players. Players are evaluated and placed with the most like players by skill level and broken in teams based on number of total participants.
This year, we are reducing evaluations to one night per age group and will offer the option for a re-evaluation in late summer for any player that would like a second look.
Evaluations will be conducted by a team of experienced YDYH Coaches, Local High School Coaches and Cape Cod Hockey using a blind tryout process. All players will be assigned random pinnie numbers at check-in and the identity of the skater by number will not be available to the evaluators. All evaluators will enter a score from 1 to 5 per player and the scores from all will be combined and averaged. We have also asked for a baseline evaluation of all current players in the program from their coaches this season which will be factored into the average score.
All placement skates are $25/session and fee will be due when completing registration.

We will release commitment date (25% of tuition) and rates after evaluations are complete and we have a better idea of how many participants we will have in the coming season. You will also see a few options during registration to indicate the level at which you would like to participate in the coming season. We have heard your feedback and are trying to develop different options to allow families to choose practices, games and skills as they wish. We encourage players from other non-town hockey programs who would like to participate on another team and will evaluate and place skaters based on ability, not participation choice. The more participants the better the placement for everyone, so bring your friends. We will limit the number of game only skaters on any one team as necessary to ensure the team has enough skaters despite conflicts.
